She is seen here working at Lambourn, under Ed Cookson, who rode her to win at Newcastle.
She was ridden by AP McCoy for her first win at Southwell. How RJT would have liked these two pictures!
Faerie Reel retired to
Batsford Stud in May 2016.
In December 2016 top bloodstock agent Aiden Murphy imported
Mon Palois from Ireland.
Trained as ever by
Kim Bailey, he distinguished himself by winning first time out at
Wetherby on 4th February 2017.
He then won again on his hurdling debut at
FFos Las on 10th May 2017.
After a break, Mon Palois won his first chase on 19th August 2020 at
Stratford .
During the Covid-19 shutdown, this was a particularly memorable win.
David Bass, wearing the obligatory face-mask, made every yard in soft ground, and returned 85 lengths clear of the only other horse to finish,
with the
sponsor's logo completely spotless.
In May 2021, Mon Palois was retired to a new home, where he is happy and busy.
Meanwhile,
Faerie Reel 's second foal, a filly by
Black Sam Bellamy, was born on 26th April 2018.
She was pre-trained by
Martin Jones and is trained by
Kim Bailey.
Now named
Faerie Cutlass, she won a
Mares' Handicap Hurdle at
Worcester on 26th May 2023.
This was Elizabeth's first home-bred winner: David and Kim were
very well pleased.
